There are some obvious problems with 0.2.4, and I am working on solutions to these before I start adding any more new features. The first and very critical is the Topics Manager. Deleting topics is very broken at this point, and I would suggest not doing so. I basically just wanted you to know that I recognize the problem(s) and am working on it.

I am experimenting with 0.2.4
and I cannot get the admin function to work.
When I enter the default password, I receive no cookie, and I get a "Page not found, error 404" answer. The reason for the error message is that the address "stammers"
instead of http://my_site/my_directory/admin/config.php3
I get :
http://my_site/my_site/my_directory/admin/config.php3
I tried to delete one of the repetitions but I still get no admin function.
(The same problem appeared when I tried to delete an entry with 2.0.3, but correcting the url by hand solved the difficulty; not this time...)
I must say that the admin function worked perfectly with 0.2.2 and 0.2.3
Waiting for a solution.
Bye Bye !

The admin in 0.2.4 works fine with the execption of deleting topics.
Be sure that you have updated all the necessary files including common.inc.php3
Be sure that if you upgraded that the necessary database changes were made as well.
See the /docs/install.html file for more details on upgrading.

BTW, I forgot to mention that the problem you are experancing I did have with a development build, but not the 0.2.4 release.

JasonW
I have checked common.inc.php3, all is correct.
I scratched the 0.2.3 database and installed the 0.2.4 database version and I still cannot get the system to send a cookie and admin refuses to work.
Could it be a problem with encryption not working with some PHP version, or in some ISPs' environment ? I only can test Phpweblog online.
This is frustrating because I succeeded with .htaccess and the 2.0.3 password system.
Could it be possible to give users the choice of different protection systems , in case one does not work in their website environment ?

I am just curious.. if possible I was wondering if you could share with us your version of php you run and maybe your php3.ini?
thanks

This was originally developed on Apache1.3.12/PHP3.0.12 and now into PHP4.0.0.
I am using the default php.ini-dist that came included with php.
I think that's a good idea about having a boolean defined in common.inc.php3 which lets you enable/disable the internal protection. I'll do this soon.

I have found a way round the admin problem in 2.0.4!
I included admin.php3 from 2.0.3, and it helped .
So I could experiment with this new version of Phpweblog.
However, with my quick fix, a few problems appeared.
I can read default rot 13 paswords but if I enter a new password, it is crypted in a different way (Blowfish ?).
Log out calls stories.php3 in edit mode, but does not log out.
The kill block or kill topic functions work but call base directory instead of
returning a php file.
All other edit functions work except repost which only calls the base directory.
The new search function does not seem to work, whereas the find function does.
(It just lacks an OK button) .
Would it be possible to make search work on contributor's names or article titles ?
Mos additions are excellent ideas, particularly the view and edit function for article contributions. This would be useful on comments and http resources.
In my opinion E-mail is not much use as my ISP disabled the mail function, and most people have an e-mail application on their machines.
Crypt does not work everywhere, and I am afraid too exotic layout functions may not work too well either with older PHP3 versions.
Bye and thanks !
