  • Just some ideas...
Posted under Development by Steen Broelling on Tuesday October 09 2001 @ 11:09AM EDT

Development I've been thinking about work on future phpWebLog editions (yeah - I CAN think sometimes :)...

With the new blocks system - seperating them from most of the basic script - would it be very hard to code something like a users block area, where they could choose the blocks they would like to see, and the once the don't wan't!??
There should still be an administrator override function though, so as some blocks will be shown all the time.
Maybe users could even decide where to put the chosen blocks!??

And as I've talked about earlier. How about a function to decide, when you create a new page for your site, if the page should be for usernames only and not anonymous!?? Hard to code!??
And when you create pages, could it be possible to create pages physically!?? I mean - that way it is possible to put ANYTHING in the page, and not like now, where there's some limits to the pagefunction. Like f.ex. when using $PHP_SELF with limitfunctions and links to the next 10 something, I get some strange behaviour...

Well. These are just ramblings from a night when I couldn't sleep. Hope people will comment...

BTW.: I get javascript errors when previewing/submitting stories in Internet Explorer 6.0. Something like "value is not null or an object". It always get previewed or submitted though.

Allowing users to choose which blocks to display and where to display them is a feature that I am in favor of as well.
    :-)

BTW, Thanks for all the development work to date. I think PHPweblog is easy to set-up and maintain and its feature set is just what I was looking for in CMS. Nice work!
