Custom Fields per story: I want to add/change some of the fields available when adding a story. How difficult would this be?

And how about getting rid of some of those blocks?? I am particularly interested in getting rid of the Topics block, only because for my purpose, there will only be 1 topic, so I find it pointless.

Please answer my questions, thank you !

Good point about the topics. I will fix it this.

As for adding fields to stories, you'll pretty much have to follow thought and make changes in several files.

    1. database of course would need altering
    2. contrib.php contains the form for submitting a story
    3. submit.php contains the sql inserting of the story
    4. admin/edit.php contains the edit form and sql inserting of stories.
    5. to display the new fields, you'll need to edit F_drawSummary() and/or F_drawStory() in include/layout.inc.php to define the variables to send to the templates.
    6. Lastly the summary.tmpl and story.tmpl templates to contain the variables you added in #5.

So, no, this wouldn't be trivial.
May I ask what you have in mind for changes?

Well I would be using the program for educational purposes and each "post" would have additional information including handouts, readings, etc. And I need the extra fields for URLs to the above info. :)

The link shows what the proj. looks like currently. It was done by hand throughout the school year and eventually it became to tiresome.

I intend on modifying phpWebLog to work with out setup. :)

Wouldn't the Index Links (or Story Links) be of help here?
For example, add a few Story Links such as Handouts, Readings, etc.

Yes and No. It could help, but we're not just putting in links. There's going to be content as well and there's already something else than can generate those pages.

And also, there's usually more than one extra thing i.e. handout, link, reading etc.

I may work on integrating the two if I get the chance, though they're fine the way it is. :)
