background images on pwl

Imagine that you have a threecolumns PWL.
Imagine that you want a background image in left column (left.gif)
How can I have in the right column right.gif as a background? I tried something in blocks.inc.php but i didn't get a great result.

If you look in include/header.inc.php, you'll the HTML that creates the page frame table.
Look for the table.
Applying a background color to the right should do the trick.
The right column is actually displayed from include/footer.inc.php though.
