  • Index Names (Story Links)? - General

What exactly does this feature do? I have asked this before a while back on the mailing list and Jason did send a response, but I still don't understand how to use the Index Names feature. Could someone please give me a concrete example of using this feature? I can find no documentation.

i'll show you by example. sometimes that's the best way to learn.

    1. login as admin

    2. go to 'extended control'

    3. in the bottom section 'extended story configuration', in the field 'add new index name', enter 'Story Source', click 'Save Changes'. enter 'Story Images', click 'Save Changes'.

    4. click in the navigation bar, 'Contribute News', enter your story like you normally do, at the bottom there should be two new fields below 'Related Links' called 'Story Source' and 'Story Images'. say you were quoting a story from http://www.usatoday.com/ enter that in there. and also, if there was an interesting image you'd like to give users a link to, enter it in the 'Story Images' field.

    5. when you submit your story, and it appears on the front page, you should see two links at the bottom of the story (depending on your template).

in essense, what it's similar with how the old way was, except it gives you more flexibility. i hope that was easy to understand. perhaps jason can elaborate on it some more.
