Block Problems in Latest unstable?

I've just installed phpweblog for the first time from the latest unstable 6 Feb 2001.
Testing shows that most things work fine. My problems all lie in the extended control page where I cannot get older stories, top 5, hot 5 and RDF blocks to appear on the page after turning them on.
The RDF block was pointed at http://slashdot.org/slashdot.rdf
Extended control options enable links, archives etc work fine.
Any help/guidance would be appreciated.
